We got a request from Tim at Parks to help with a special project this week cleaning the planting beds and the general park at MLK Jr. Memorial Park along with Parks employees for an event the following Saturday where Mayor Harrell will be dedicating a new garden within the park.

I’ve been pitching a closer relationship with city entities including Parks & Rec and believe this could be a notable event for us to show up in force and take the ACA program on the road (or just over the bridge). The park’s about a 15 minute commute from West Seattle and pretty easy to get to.

There’s a parking lot just across S. Walker Street at the Tennis Center which will make walking into the park very easy as we’ll meet right on the corner entrance at MLK Way S. & S. Walker. This is a family friendly event, great for student service hours!
